Here are a few personal highlights from the year past, and quite a year it was too!
New Years in Tokyo
New years day in Tokyo was amazing, we participated in HatsumÅde(åˆè©£) – the first shrine visit of the New Year at Meiji Jingu Shrine, picked up some lucky packs at Laforet and witnessed a Taiko Drum performance.
Had a Wedding Reception
Upon our return to the UK, we had our Wedding Reception in Bradford. Despite the bad weather the turnout was great, thanks to everyone who came!
Stayed in a Castle
As a late Valentines gift, I took Emma away to Peckforton Castle, near Chester.
Launched Gundamfactory.com
Gundam Factory was launched in May of 2010, and has attracted a few members although posting has dropped off as of late. I intend to keep going with it and perhaps 2011 will be the year it grows into a proper community.
Glenridding trip with work
Two brilliant days in the Lake District with workmates, sleeping in a tiny lodge and performing all sorts of mad team building exercises. Awesome.
Wales Holiday
For the second year in a row, we returned to this great little chalet in Wales to get away from it all for a week. Great weather, great friends, great food and a hot tub 🙂
Wild camping
Steve and Dave had never really been camping before, so what better way to introduce them than heading to the top of Ilkley moor with only what we could carry, tempting Mother Nature to do her worst! What ensued was an awesome night of booze and campfire chat with 2 of my very best friends.
Did a bit of Urbexing
I’d been itching to get into this, and found on hell of a site in the Abandoned home. I have lots more places in mind to explore in the coming year.
Ibiza Summer Holiday
Emma and I had never been away for a beach holiday together, so we treated ourselves to a trip to Ibiza in September, weather was amazing and many beers and cocktails were consumed 🙂
Mini Cruise to Bruges
As a result of achieving a sales target at work, we were all treated to a P&O Mini Cruise to Bruges. Great city and travelling across on the boat was really good fun too!
Dusseldorf Christmas Trip
The German Christmas Market in Leeds is pretty great, but this year we wanted to experience the real thing and jetted off to Germany for a week. Dusseldorf had nearly 10 Christmas markets, each selling it’s own gluhwein recipe – we obviously tried them all 🙂 We stayed in a suite hotel and it was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. This trip really got us in the Christmas spirit!
First Wedding Anniversary
First Wedding Anniversary already, how time flies! Each anniversary has a material associated with it, the first being paper – so I commissioned framed paper recreations of our wedding outfits, with our wedding certificate as a background. Think I did ok with this one 🙂
Christmas!
As incredible and unique as last year was, you just can’t be Christmas in the UK. Christmas dinner, dodgy TV, board games and naps at 3pm 🙂
So that was 2010! I’m sure there’s plenty I forgot but those are my highlights for the year. Here’s hoping 2011 will be bigger and better!
