Early-morning Hiroshima

Early-morning Hiroshima
Japanese cities are bustling hives of activity with pedestrians, cyclists and cars everywhere. But that’s not what greeted me when I stepped off the night bus in Hiroshima at 6am today.

Being really early morning, I expected things to be quiet, but the almost deserted state of the streets of the city centre compared to their usual liveliness was literally one extreme to another. I found it striking and a little eerie too see these usually manic places so empty.

A few hours later, everything had come to life and it was madness as usual!
