It looks like you’ve got a whole lot of Journal Standard burger joints Osaka now. They’re okay, and a step up from fast food burgers, but I prefer the independent places.

    Hello Tubbygaijin,

I’m just writing to relate an expedition to Awajishima Burger outside Osaka. My friend and I, after reading your blog, decided to venture forth and try and locate Awajishima – sounded too delicious. After some effort and wandering, we finally located the unmistakable little shack. We were disappointed to discover that it appeared to be out of business, closed early , or perhaps the owner was on vacation. Regardless, there was a notice on the door with a June date on it that appeared, to Western eyes, to he a “going out of business”-type sign. That being said, neither of us are fluent in reading Japanese so could not say for certain. Oh, well.

Just wanted to give you a heads-up in case you’d like to update your post!

Hi, sorry for the super ridiculously slow response, looks like they’re still in business checking tabelog as there are some reviews from the other day! It could well have been a vacation, or depending on when you visited they might’ve sold out – they used to close early when they ran out of the good stuff
