Hanshin Tigers Week: Monday – Rokko Oroshi

It only seems right to kick off this week with the Tiger’s anthem, Rokko Oroshi(六甲おろし)!

Created in 1936, the song was written by poet and lyricist Sōnosuke Satō(1890 – 1942) and composed by Yūji Koseki(1909 – 1989). The name refers to the cold winds that flow down from Mount Rokko(a mountain range running East – West close to Kobe and Osaka). If(when!) you go to a Tigers game, you’ll hear this song a lot.

Lyrics below, pay attention to the middle column but don’t worry too much about learning it all, just get the verse ending down or clap along 🙂
