This week, Florentijn Hofman’s globetrotting duck is back in Osaka!
I saw the duck last October in Nakanoshima park, a very picturesque place. This year however he was out by some wasteland in the dock area which seemed like a strange choice, as there was nothing much nearby.
In front of the duck was a huge art installation featuring loads of black-and-white animal cutouts, very surreal!
My replica duck from last year came along.
A few food stands were set up nearby, along with a really shiny car and the rubber duck souvenir van!
They even had their own duck-car this year, awesome.
Once again, rubber duck replica’s are available for ¥1000. Every hour only 50 are being made available for sale, 3000 are available for sale in total, I couldn’t resist getting another so I have a pair!
I guess I’m a real sucker for limited editions…
If you want to see the duck in Osaka this year, you best hurry – today(the 18th) will be his final day here before he continues on his adventures! Map below, I rode over but the closest station is Awaza.
I know you are actually there, but the cement statues look like they are badly photoshopped on!
They’re cut outs not stone, so yeah, they look very plonked on 🙂
Hey dude next time you have a few mins give me a shout on g+!
